Objective
To assess the time taken for the NV950 (Protect 800/900) to treat the air of a 22.65m3 (800 ft3) room
Methodology
A numerical simulation was undertaken on the NV950 (Protect 800/900) device, placed in a 9.3m2 (100 ft2) room with standard 2.4 meter (8 ft)-high ceilings, with a total volume of 22.65m3 (800 ft3).
Transient models were developed to simulate the unit’s two speed settings and plot the percentage of treated air in the room over time. Once these simulations were completed, flow visualization tools were also employed to assess the aerodynamic behaviour of the fluid within the domain.
Results
The Novaerus NV950 (Protect 800/900) unit operating at fan speed 1 was shown to take 24 minutes to clean 100% of the air in a room of 22.65m3 (800 ft3) in volume.
Operating at fan speed 2 the device was shown to take 21 minutes to clean 100% of the air in a room of 22.65m3 (800 ft3) in volume.
90% exchange of air was complete after 17 minutes at fan speed 1 and 15 minutes at fan speed 2.
