Overview

Edgehill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a 60-bed skilled nursing facility, implemented the Novaerus Protect units in selected areas in July 2014. This study compares the total number of respiratory nosocomial infections before and after implementation of the Novaerus technology.

A 24-month review was conducted to evaluate the results.

Methodology

A Nurse Risk Manager Consultant with RB Health Partners, Inc. visited the facility for two days to abstract information and review the data. The periods selected for aggregate pre- and post-review were August 2013 through April 2014 and August 2014 through April 2015. Comparison of like periods reduces the risk of skewed data related to seasonal variances.

Results

In the period after implementation of the Protect units in selected areas, the total number of nosocomial respiratory infections at Edgehill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center decreased from 30 to 24, a 20% reduction.
